Hi,

I have a Canon Ixus 50 digital camera.
with Kingston Elite Pro 512mb highspeed(50x) sd card.

Is there difference when i copy file from camera to pc using card reader and camera?

Is there card reader usb 2.0? i don't know if my camera is usb 1.1 or 2.0, but i heard 2.0 is much faster than 1.1

so can anyone that knows about this?

Go reader that is known to be USB 2. The camera link is a PITA - requires a cable and requires the camera to be turned on. Get a second SD card and just swap. When one is downloading, you can still be taking pictures. I always carry a USB reader in my camera bag - then I can impose, when traveling, on other computers - friends or Internet Cafe.

I am on my 5th digicam - started in 1996. I only messed with a cable link once and that was that! :) A reader/writer is so much more efficient and useful. You don't need to worry about camera drivers or camera software either.

Go reader
make sure it's 2.0
Canon's software doesn't bother wether it's the camera or the card in a reader as it puts a file in the card to identify which pictures have and have not been downloaded. I'm only at my first cam, but it's the 3rd in my household and direct link with the camera can be a real battery eater you'll get your investment back, no worries about that.

I use the camera. I don't know if it's a good idea to remove and replace the card so many times.

Do they make a dock for your camera? I did a quick google but didnt find anything. I personally think that is the way to go if its an option.

Patriot has a USB key styled housing for SD cards. I keep a spare SD card in it that I swap with my digicam. Plug the USB key housing (with SD card inserted) into any computer and it acts like a normal USB flash drive. Copy what you need and done. It's pretty handydue to it's portability and the fact you don't need to carry a full sized USB card reader.
