What do you guys think of this or maybe the9800? I'm looking to upgrade my 8500 and I want someting that is going to last me a few years. What are your thoughts, should I consider anything else?
9800pro should be very nice and will definitely last you for a few years, if you're willing to pay that kind of money (I personally could never spend that much on a video card). If you want to save a little bit you could get a 9800non pro instead and oc it. I'd go with the 9800 over the 9700.
Tyan makes some good cards, based on reviews I've seen at Firingsquad. Go for the 9800 np or pro. The 9700 series are good cards too, but I like the better AA on the 9800s.
Sounds good... although "a few years" is a bit optimistic for today's hardware... especially seeing as how we're at the end of a product cycle right now, and in 2 months we'll have brand new video card cores with more DX9 features.
BTW... does anybody find it funny that DirectX dictates what video card manufactuerers build into their video cards? Shouldn't it be the other way around?
