Card interface help

Hi will all the pci cards interchange?.
I mean pci x16.plain pci and whatever else is out there.Can I plug a regular pci card in an x16 slot and vice-versa.

Short answer is no.

PCI != PCIe

You can put a lower X PCIe cards in higher X slots. I.E. a 4X PCIe card will work in a 16X slot but not a 1X slot.

PCI cards DO NOT work in PCIe slots or vice versa.
