Hi all

I just bought a dell XPS on clearance from Microcenter. It has an i5 2320, 8 gig of ram, and 460 watt power supply. It looks like the power supply has 2x6 pin connectors.

It gives 3 ratings for 12volt rails, 18Amps, 12A, and 8A, with max 12v power of something like 380 amps, I dont remember exactly.

The computer is quite nice, but came with a HD6450. Dont even know why they put that in. It is probably no faster than the IGP. Anyway I temporarily replaced it with a low power 9800GT from my previous computer, but eventually would like to upgrade.

Right now I use a 1440 x 900 monitor, but eventually would also like to upgrade to 1080p, but am not interested in higher than that. The two cards that I am considering are the AMD HD7770 and the HD7850. I would think the ps could handle the 7770 for sure, but a not sure about the 7850. I am also not sure how they would fit into the case: is there enough room? I believe the 7770 is an option factory installed, so that should work.

So would either of these cards work, or should I limit myself to the HD7770? I am also wondering if it is worth it to wait for the new nVidia midrange cards, GT650, 660, or whatever? I like the AMD cards because they are pretty power efficient, but am wondering how the midrange Kepler cards will compare.
