Card For A Friend

He wants to play games like WoW and Sims 2. I was thinking a 8600 GT would probably do fine. Should I just get the 256 version and skip the 512, or another card altogether?

Are you paying for this card, or is he? If you're paying, an 8600GT should be fine, since it will actually allow him to play those games. It just isn't going to perform that well. And the extra 256MB of VRAM is wasted on such a slow GPU; it can't take advantage of it. If he's buying, tell him to get a 9600GT, which is at close to three times as fast as an 8600GT, and only costs ~$100.
