* I got a build this year with X3 440 and a 1080p monitor.
* The PSU is 450W.
* I don't play with OC.
* I plan to buy a card for my box near Christmas holiday for games like Dragon of Age, Civ 5, Draw of War, and Starcraft 2.
* I prefer 1920X1080p and don't much care about AA.
* I don't want to upgrade my box in the next 2-3 years.

Currently, I can afford 5770 1G, 460 768M, 6850 and 460 1G.

Some of my friends said my X3 440 and 5770 are on a par with each other, and 460 768M is at most. X3 440 won't output enough data for other faster cards even at 1080p.

Personally, I prefer 460 768M. Some reviews said it could provide great performance in 1920X1080 at most games and has a good performance/price. But it seems to me very hard to make the decision among these choices.

If you were me, what's your opinion? Thanks in advance!

the gtx460 1gb can be found at the same price as the 6850 so either one of those should be fine. do not get the gtx460 768mb for 1920 because it is not enough vram for some current games at settings that the gtx460 can handle. plus at that res you want the extra bandwidth and rop performance too.

6850 will be enough for your needs

unless you have an affinity towards Nvidia, it has TO BE 1gb 460gtx

good luck :thumbsup:

Thanks for your reply! 6850 is really a good choice. Then I'll have a 3A platform.

BTW, nowadays many people say video card is more and more important than CPU in gaming (Is it because AMD's cheap CPU?). My X3 440 took me less than $75 while 6850 is around $200. It seems very crazy if we went back to ten yeas ago!

they are both important. the faster gpu setup that you have then the faster the cpu needs to be to fully to utilize. your cpu is okay for a 6850 but you certainly will not get 100% out it some games that are very cpu intensive. if you were wanting to run 6850 crossfire then I would suggest getting a better/faster cpu.

I upgraded from a HD5770 1G to a GTX460 1G, which is definitely better at 1920x1080. The 5770 is slightly underpowered for that res, in my opinion.
I use an E6600 clocked at 3 GHz, so it's not like I have a mega-powerful CPU, probably slower than yours.
So I would not recommend the 5770, I'd get something faster. And as said above, if you go with the 460, go with the 1 GB version, slightly faster and also more memory, which will help at 1920x1080.
