I think all of those features are nice to have on a car. I dont see the problem. Then again, I drive a 1998 Ford Escort, so Id take any kind of luxury feature.

Yeah, I don't want any of that stuff, and don't want to pay for stuff I don't want.

this guy is a complete moron....i cant even whine about how stupid it is...he is an old fart that needs to let go of the past >( i have traction control and i have plenty of fun in my car...if he thinks he is such a good drive...stability and traction control should not impead on his ability to have fun...most of the ****** he listed helps make cars safer

Autodimming mirrors rock. The other things I generally agree are uneeded, but autodimming is an incredibly functional little luxury...especially when you have *side* dimming mirrors. Those are so nice when you have some ass behind you driving with his brights on (or fog lights, heh)and it's hitting your drivers side mirror and blasting you in the face.

I have autodimming rear view in both of my cars and it is great little item that you don't realize how nice they are until you drive a vehicle without them.

The only thing I hate is a seat belt dinger going off every ten seconds when I decide not to wear my belt. If I don't want to, then I shouldn't have to.

I hate autodimming mirrors. They never work right. ANd they are too expensive.

Power mirrors are stupid too, along with power seats. Big wheels and tires (factory 18" and 19" wheels) are ridiculous.

You "can't even whine about it", but then you proceed to do just that?

You drive an automatic, don't you. :p

The biggest thing I miss about cars is focus on the car.

My first car didn't have power windows, doorlocks, fog lights, cruise control, and all that stuff. My second car did. When it came to get my third, I ordered one without. From the drivers seat one would think my car is a stripped down model. No front ABS (got rear though), just have A/C, aftermarket stereo, no temperature/compass (trust me, I know if it's hot or cold out there. And that clip they put in instead is 1000x more useful, I can slide envelopes, bridge tolls, and whatever pieces of paper I need up there, It's EXCELLENT!). But what I _DO_ have is the heavy duty package. Some nice KYB shocks. The tire and handling package. Basically, I passed up on annoying crap that is going to break, and picked up things that will keep things from breaking.

I miss the days of when a car was a car. But the market has spoken. They want living rooms with wheels. How long until Winnebagos are suddenly called "crossover vehicles"?

For daily driving all the new stuff is great. If you want a fun car then buy a fun car for pleasure driving and spinning your tires. Traction control is a good thing for the average driver on the way to work in the rain or snow.

That guy should just go home and watch his black and white TV with rabbit ears.

Seriously, that was just long drivel.

All of those features are unnecessary. But so is basically everything but the engine, transmission, wheels, and pedals. All of those things are also optional. So he's basically just an elitist whiner.

Most of that is arguing the for sake of arguing. Some of it is valid - it would be annoying as hell to read a disclaimer, and not be able to unlock the doors until you shut off the ignition.

The only luxury I would see myself missing is a power moonroof. Luckily my '89 Prelude has one, but as for the rest of it, I am on my own. I even get to shift my own gears, w00t.

I know, on junkers I drive if it's annoying enough I can just cut the belt and leave it plugged in so it turns it off, but still not have the belt.

My vehicles all allow you to turn the dinging off via a procedure you have to do per the manual.
