CARBUFFS!!! I'm gonna buy one and HELP!

Is it a good time to buy an accord 02- (pre redesigns) now?

I'm thinking of spending about $12-15K for a new car.. And I don't know jack shiznit about cars except few speculations.. Carbuffs, let me know if I'm right:

1. For that price range, a great car to get now are accords 2000-2002. Because, due to the '03 redesigns, their prices would drop.
2. And, I could get a brand new(are there any? if no, then preowned) 2002 Accord SE for 15K~
3. Timing is also great because the prices are falling due to poor economy and spring is good time...

Those three Qs are very vital to me and will be a first step to automobile knowledge as I will be researching like hell before I buy the car... (this will be the biggest purchase of my life yet.)

[edit]
my attempt at catchier title.

For heaven's sake, don't buy a new car. Find something 4-5 years old with low miles and save the remainder of your money. IIRC you're young yet. Save the money to get yourself established. Kids my age (early 20's) need brand new cars like they need a hole in the head.

Don't buy a new car cause that's just dumb. As soon as you drive it off the lot you lose money. Buy one 2-3 yo and save you money.:Q

I agree...find a good used car with relatively low miles. Use carfax.com to check out the vehicle history report and get a 30 day warranty (minimum) and have a reliable mechanic take a look at the car.

good luck.

There's nothing wrong with buying a new car. Buying it establishes credit right? Not to mention you have the comfort of knowing you have a warranty, because despite what Carfax might say about a car, you never know how the used car was driven - it could have been granny driven, or it could have been driven to the edge. There are some things not even mechanics can find out until it's too late.

I wouldn't buy a "new" 2002 Accord. Yes, you will find some with large discounts - but since that was the last year of production for that bodystyle and you're buying it after the model year is essentially over, the depreciation hit you'll take at this point on a new '02 is going to be even steeper than normal. If you buy an '02 Accord now and try to sell it in a year, many prospective buyers will look at it like it's actually two years old. The pricing discounts likely won't make up for the additional depreciation, unless you can get a truly amazing price and some sort of special financing.

A 2000 would likely be a better value.

i wonder who even still has 2002 accords nowdays anyway?

anyway, i'm the idiot who bought the 5-speed civic monday but can't drive stick, so my advice is don't buy something you can't drive 😉
