Carbide 500R fan controller

If I decide to add additional fans to my Carbide 500R, can I connect these fans to the Carbide's existing fan controller, or will I need to power them by attaching them to the motherboard?

I've read that the Carbide 500R's fan controller has proprietary connections that won't work with anything but the build in-fans. Is that true?

The internal fan controller only supports three 3pin fans. They use a standard 3pin connector, so all 3pin fans can connect to it. I will say the Corsair built-in fan controller is really a joke. There is almost zero difference going from low to high. I have all of my fans connected to my motherboard and the fan controller. If you really want to controll the speed of all of your fans I would suggest buying a better fan controller. I had this one in an older build on mine and liked it very much, of course there are some other pretty good ones on the market now.
