I have a '96 oldsmobile aurora, and it seems to have a few (2) bad oxygen sensors. Is there anywhere online or retail that I could get these, just out of curiousity, I have a regular mechanic who is VERY good, but he takes the summers off and I wouldn't mind at least getting the parts on my own if I can find them for cheaper. Any thoughts? There is more oxygen sensors in that car then most (8) so I'm O.K. for a little bit, but they not firing totally correctly. Thanks fellas!

How inept are you, exactly?

From what my mechanic says, and he's one of the best in world for GM fixes, I have eight, keep in mind this is a V8 engine for a car, although I could have mis-heard him when he said that...its the v8 Northstar engine.

you're looking for spark plugs and not oxygen sensors then. i would just purchase a set of 8 and replace them like that.

Your have eight spark plugs and two O2 sensors. Both of these items can be bought at any independent or chain parts store. Make sure you get ACDelco plugs and Bosch sensors.

O.K. but are they universal or do they have are the specific for my make and model etc.? Any price ranges on these off the top of your head? I feel retarded, but I admit that I am when it comes to cars...I just want my darn check engine light to go off!

Sparks plugs are like $3 for a box of 4. Oxygen sensors are between $50 and $150 each depending on what car they're for.

I recommend you take your car to a mechanic to get it fixed cause you obviously haven't the slightest clue what you're doing.

i think it would take a long time for a spark plug to set a MIL... maybe he said both of your o2 sensors are bad?

maybe he should be doing the work? :)
