Quick question regarding car titles...

Fiancee wants to trade in her car for a new one, but her mom's name is on the title as well (they both are).

Any ideas on how this can be done without her mother being present? I've never dealt with a situation like this before, so i wasn't sure of what is typically done...

I know a power of attorney would likely work, but that sets us back a few days waiting for the paperwork to return.

In my state, each 'owner' has to sign the title in the presence of a notary. You could send the title to your M-i-L and have her sign it and notarized.

Depends on how it is titled.

Does it say Mr. Smith and Mrs. Smith

OR

Does it say Mr. Smith or Mrs. Smith

OR
