Car thread: Looking to buy a car this Autumn

I'm looking for something dependable and fun. I also play guitar and record bands, so I'm looking at hatchbacks so I can load a lot of gear into my car (such as a 4x12 cab and/or my recording rack). Not a big truck guy.

Through my job I get discounts on all Ford products (including Volvo, Mazda, Jag, etc.) and GM Products. But a couple $k more for a vehicle that I really enjoy is worth it to me.

So far I'm considering (should I make a poll?):
Mazda 3 Hatch
Subaru Impreza Wagon (non-WRX)
Subaru Forester
VW GTI Mark V (premium gas is a turn off)

What'cha think?

Why 3? Why not Mazda6?

I'm not ruling out the 6. I didn't know they made a wagon version. I'm not sure if I like how it looks (I don't really care for the sedan version). I'll be sure to test drive it though.

Stay away from volkswagen. Do you have 20k in your pocket or do you have the banks 20k?

I was thinking that, but I thought I would get a few more opinions on the VW.

I have a pretty decent down payment & a pretty crappy car to trade in on a new car.
