What is with these psychotic cyclists? Why are they harassing car drivers? Do you creeps get a free Big Bite for every car you run in to??

Well you are supposed to adjust your speed to the flow of traffic; if I had some asshole car driver up my ass I'd certainly be pedaling as fast as I could.

Good for the officer; observant and metes out tickets equally.

My joke - Maybe he was a Hyper Miler trying to get the ultimate green energy draft.

Shame on many of you for hating on bikers.

Did you not see that the bicyclist was actually exceeding the posted speed limit?

Speed limits are for stupid people. People that aren't stupid can figure out how fast they can go while remaining safe. Stupid people cannot, so the government has to put up signs telling them "this is the most your tiny brain can handle." Same thing with "No turn on red" signs.

Fuck anything that makes it so I can't drive as fast as I like. That includes cyclists. They're a fucking menace that needs to be dealt with.

I hope the irony was intentional.

never understood the hate for bicyclists. It's a lot more difficult to be a bicyclist than to drive a car. With that said, I get irritated at pedestrians in crosswalks who act like nobody is waiting for them to cross the street and they take their merry time to get across. Every time I cross a street if I see somebody waiting for me, I scurry along... when did people become so self absorbed?

Bicycle and motorcycle riders should be rounded up and put in a concentration camp where they can ride around in circles all day.

As a cyclist, I'm glad the driver is getting a ticket. I'm surprised to see many comments asking cyclists to use the sidewalk or trolling for comments

Last night on the way home, some asshole was sitting on my tail for a 3-4 minute stretch down a winding road. His head lights were annoying me too. I actually thought about breaking hard or pulling over to get him off my back but I proceeded normally. As I finally turned left into my subdivision, he kept going straight and as I turned, I saw "Police" decal on his driver door. Few seconds later I saw his headlights spin around meaning he made a U Turn...

Why is he riding in the road when there is a perfectly good sidewalk on his right?

Good luck going 32mph on a sidewalk.

The fucked up thing is the biker passed that CRV at one point and was moving with the flow of traffic.

The car driver wasn't harassing the biker, it was merely drafting for efficiency.

The biker may have finally reached cruising speed with traffic but has different acceleration properties and was still getting in the way of traffic. The biker is stupid and egotistic to believe he can operate his bike in a similar manner to vehicles powered by combustion engines.

There are many backroads or wider main roads available for riding without putting oneself directly into the heat of traffic like that. A wider main road would allow the biker to ride to the side and allow traffic to move around him easier.

I ride and even when I could accelerate that fast, I never rode that stupidly.

Apparently, you can't figure out that you can't go faster than the cars in the left lane, or faster than the bike (which was outpacing the cars) in the right lane. Thus, you must be one of those stupid people you're referring to. :D

I don't mind cycles on the road so long as they don't pick and choose which rules they want to follow. That's where you get the hate.
Right, I never see people in automobiles break laws.. it's super rare to see California stops and lane changes in intersections

Speaking of riding stupidly, here's someone who doesn't quite understand the concept of what a road does. The entire idea of getting from point A to point B is lost on him. ;) :p And, that road wasn't wide enough? It's a lot harder to pass a cyclist when there's one lane - they had 2 lanes.

wider roads do nothing (for the safety of cyclists) since it just increases the speed of the vehicular traffic up to highway speeds

Exactly, there were at least 3 or 4 people who had to spend 5 seconds of their life making sure it was safe to move their car over by 10 feet. And that's just from the video - there could be dozens of innocent victims who had 5 seconds of their lives impacted by this cyclist.

Troll post?

Its illegal in most places to ride a bike on the sidewalk.

It is? Where? Thats kinda what the sidewalk is for, non-vehicle traffic.

That said, from the video, it looks like the cyclist is in either the middle of the lane and at times on the left side of the lane. If you're going to cycle in the street, common sense says you should be as far to the right as possible.

No, common sense says ride in the safest way possible. When the lane is a substandard width*, it is safer for the cyclist to take the lane in order to force vehicular traffic to pass on the left (or run the cyclist over).

* Note: substandard width depends on your state
