I leave my precious '94 Integra which I've driven since high school (6 years ago) at the BART (train) station every morning at around 7:30, and get back anywhere from 5:30-7. Yesterday I got out a little early and came back a little past 5, went to my usual parking spot, and found an empty spot.

I pause, look around a bit, let out an expletive, and go up to the guy in the booth who calls up a policeman for me. I exchange details and such, he files a report, and I head on home.

=/

I generally park in the exact same spot near the end of the lot everyday, since a) it's always available, b) because it makes it easy to leave when I come out at night, and c) I would have an impossible time figuring out where I park everyday.

I wonder then if the thief was sort of spying me down to make sure I come and leave at relatively the same time everyday before making his move--which should be a lesson to change up your parking habits on a daily basis.

Luckily my gas tank was almost on E at the time, so he couldn't have gotten THAT far, lest he pulls over and fills up of course.

EDIT: FULL STORY HERE http://www.pikindaguy.com/tien...n/2007/06/07/the-call/

Cliff's: Guy saw it front of his house, called me up, got it back.

94 Integra?

Uh, yes. Popular target for ricers looking for engines.

I drive a 96 integra, thank goodness its a regular automatic. That generation is notorious for car thefts, it's one of the most popular ricer cars. I also hear the GSRs never had the VINs imprinted on the engines, making them difficult to trace.

Even if it's not for the engine they are still stolen quite often for their exterior and interior parts.

No cameras anywhere, and my Integra had about 160k miles on it.

Luckily it's sort of a spare car that I use just to park at the train station, just in case of these situations. I still have my primary car.

And no it definitely wasn't towed.

That's no good :(. I guarantee that tonight when I leave work, I will walk over to where I park my car and be like "WTF MY CAR IS GONE!!" Then I'll realize I parked it in the lot below, where I almost never park :p.

Nooope, the car couldn't be worth more than $1500 anyway. It had a few dents here and there, and a salvaged title.

Definitely hoping to get it back though. My dad's 1984 Toyota pickup truck was stolen from our garage a few years back, and it was found a few days later.
