My neighbor gave me a cd player today for the car, I have a old delta 88 1985 olds that I went to put it in. The cd player won't power on at all. He said it works they took it out of a car when they bought their envoy.

I don't have a wire tester how can I test this thing? I hooked up black to blk yllw to yllw and red to red inside the car but nothing. I. Hooked it up red and yellow to positive on the battery and blk to neg on the battery and nothing. What can I do here? I have no radio in my car and drive 1.5 hrs round trip to work each day and I need so ething to listen too.

Thanks in advance

Get an adapter harness so it will just plug in and you won't have to guess?

Where'd ya go????

Sounds to me that the unit is bad, if you connected it directly to the battery and nothing happen and all fuses on the deck are good this only leave one thing it can be.

Dead head unit..

THere is one fuse on the deck and it was good, my fuse in the fuse box is good also. He said it worked when they took it out but maybe they fried something some how when they took it out. I cant get this to work at all. Oh well no radio for quite awhile now. At least 2 weeks before I can buy a new one, I've got alot of bills to pay

Not gonna happen the stereo and my car are both hard wired.

Your factory radio did not have a plug? That's hard to believe. Did someone remove it?

Crutchfield claims to have an adapter harness for an 85 delta 88.

One advantage of the harness is that each wire is labeled.

The factory radio had a plug then someone put a aftermarket cd player in it before I bought the car. That radio lasted 4 years then it blew, I took it apart and the capacitor was blown on the board so I tossed it. This radio had a plug on it but then was cut off to be spliced together with the wires from my car.

Oh well it was a bad radio, crap happens on to the next one

haha i love hearing this. a great friend of mine owns a custom shop and gets people walking in all the time to test stereos and amps for them. they pretty much always say some version of "the guy said it worked when he took it out..." and rarely works when we test them. if you really think this thing works, take it to a local audio shop and ask them to test it for ya. they will hook it up, run it and test/ measure the output of the channels for either free or very cheap. takes about 10 min for a good check.
