Car stereo woes!

So, I go to Circuit City yesterday to upgrade my car stereo, and I walk out with 4 Polks inside my car, a new Alpine cd player, and 2 Infinity 10's in my trunk w/ a 730w Pioneer amp. It''s a nice system for someone on a budget who doesn't plan on being heard 4 miles away, but there's one problem. It's not in the components, but in the installation, to the best of my knowledge.. maybe someone could help me out?

When I play a cd, my crappy in dash Dodge speakers and my sub are the ONLY speakers that do a thing. When I play my radio, my in dash speakers and my sub don't respond and my 4 Polks do all the work. What the heck? Has anyone ever heard of this before, and if so, does it sound like an installation problem? I messed with the reciever and looked all thru the directions last night and couldn't get it to work properly, so I'm thinking it's not user error.

I guess if I can't figure it out it'll go back to Circuit City tomorrow.. at least they have an awesome warranty there on car audio I guess I get to try out... grrrr... 🙁

Soundls like an installation issue to me MistaTastyCakes, go back to CC and have them recheck the wiring.

What....the....hell.....
Thats WEIRD. I cant even see HOW you could wire that up on accident. I've had a case where my backlight was run through the atenna and not the AC pwoer, so when I used my CD player instead of radio I had no lights on the head unit...But actually running the stock with radio and aftermarket with the new speakers...(Or vice versa...) now thats a wierd one there.
I'd go back to CC.

go back, they goofed.

Also why do you have 4 polks added, but still factory speakers? they should have pulled the factory ones, or at least not wired them up, cause they'll produce lower quality sound than the polks.

They totally messed it up somehow. I don't even know where to begin to explain what is causing this mysterious problem. And I know someone already asked, but what are you doing with factory speakers and 4 aftermarket speakers?

I see you're in Texas. I still have a chance here in Ohio. Just noticed they (CC) carry the Alpine I want (CDA-9805). Anyone know where I can get good reviews on head units? I'm also worried about replacing my DIN-1/2 GM radio with a DIN unit and a dash kit. I know I'm gonna botch it up. I'm not very good with jerryrigging physical stuff (more into digital manipulation). Anyone know of any resources I could read before I don a dremmel and do stuff my car will regret?

Thanks!

What subs (model) and what amp (model) did you get? I got 2 infinity kappa perfects 10.1s, and im lookin for an amp for them...

sounds real simple...what kind of car do you have?? they either didnt bypass a factory amp or they used the wrong wire for the amp turn on (remote wire) some decks have 2 blue wires, which are the ones for the amp turn on...and its easy to mix them up...hope that helps
