Hi!

I installed a new receiver in my car and just noticed that when using the FADE control option, my REAR and FRONT speakers are the other way around.

The car doesn't sound that good either.

Could it be just because of the mix-up?

Unless you physically misplaced the speakers, that's probably not the cause of your crappy sound. You didn't actually put front speakers in the back and rear speakers at the front, did you?

I'm not that bad...but the speakers were already there...

I'm not very happy with the way it sounds and I really don't mind having the rear / front mixed up if it doesn't have anything to do with the sound quality!

If you mixed up the front and rear you may also have mixed up the phasing, which could account for the poor sound.

Yeah, I was thinking the same thing. Does the sound have a hollowed out, or spacey sound to the bass?

That reminds me:

Have any of you been in a car that has a powerful subwoofer with a phasing problem? I thought my teeth were going to fall out of my head. Weird stuff.

whats the car...stock speakers?
reciever upgrade alone isn't going to do squat unless the original was truely horrible.

I bought premium speakers before and I was using a Kenwood mp3 unit 50 X 4.

I just upgraded to a JVC 50 X 4 DVD unit (no screen) and I'm not happy with the sound.

It's hard to describe, but the songs sound "plain". Not enough bass and weak.

Guess it feels sort of like playing a 128kb mp3 Vs a 320 quaility one.

Re-wiring is next!

Thanks guys!

I'd almost guarantee you are out of phase if you messed up the front/back. That would account for a very dull sound with little bass as the speakers literally cancel each other out.

make sure all speakers are connected correctly with positive to positive and negative to negative between the head unit and the speakers.
