Car stereo questions

YACST? 🙂

Trying to decide on a system for my Frontier King Cab (extended cab, not 4 seat Crew Cab) pickup. Already got the CDP. A friend has a JL Audio 8W3 (8" sub) in his regular cab S10 that sounds perfect for me. Where's the cheapest place to get JL subs? I haven't seen any online.

Also, any recommendations on 6.5" woofer/tweeter separate component sets, and a 4 channel amp to drive these and the sub?

I've got Boston Acoustic 6.4 Pro's in my other car that I've had for many years and liked. A little bright though. I'd settle for more of them (they're 6.5's now), but they're now about double the price I paid for mine, and also was wondering if there was anything better for the 6.5's price or cheaper. Something a little smoother sounding. I was thinking of MP Quart since I remember them sounding good years ago, but I heard they're made by a different company now.
As far as amp - the smaller physical size, the better. A fan might be nice too (?). I plan to make a false floor w/ the amp and sub. Good clean sound. I normally don't listen at loud volumes anymore.

BTW, I listen to zero/zip/zilch/nunca/nada hip hop/rap.

I would recommend getting kick panels for a truck with CDT components. I have the 3 way 6.5s in my focus and its sick.
Kick panels make all the difference in the world!!! especially in a truck.

Get a good amp 100x2 or 150x2 amp (I really love U.S. acoustics for the money, they sound GREAT) and either 2 or three way components. I would recommend CDTs for better sound than MB quart and most other brands.... MSG me if i can help more.

Thanks, but I don't want kick panels for several reasons.
Also if you read my post, I need/want a 4 (or 3) channel amp.
Also I mentioned my price considerations. CDT's seem to be at least double that.

I was just telling you what sounds better, I prefer sound quality.
Its better to have two amps instead of just one for speakers and sub.
As for reading your post, i did. Maybe you should re-read it, where does it mention price considerations other than "also was wondering if there was anything better for the 6.5's price or cheaper"

On BA's website the cheapest 6.5 pro were $400....

CDT's sound better and are less expensive. link to cdt 6.5's that cost $150 for a pair......

Try being more specific. 😕

Oh, sorry, the CDT's I saw were $700+. And I specifically said I wanted something at or cheaper than BA's. Of course BA's website shows list price, not street price. Does CDT have a website?

I didn't say you didn't read my post, just that if you do read my post, you can see that I asked for recommendations for a 4 channel amp. That's the way I've always done it and have been happy.

Bump.

What's the difference in the other JL 8" subs (W0, W3v2, W6, W7) compared to the 8W3?

Are MB Quart's still good? Like the RCE216 or PCE216? What about Polk, Infinity, Boston, Rockford Fosgate?

Amps?
