Picked up an amp last week, want to install it. My amp was stolen and thew wires ripped out. I can't seem to find the remote wire, and the way my head units mounted getting it out will be a PITA. When I had it installed the speakers would give off a humming that went up/down when I revved even when the stereo was off. They installed some soft of kill switch to silence it when the stereo wasn't in use. Later the problem was fixed but the switch is still there.
with how the HU is installed I don't think I can get to the remote wire, I would assume the switch they installed cuts off the power from the wire I have coming off my battery and running to my trunk, but how can I test this? If that's the case I can just flip the switch when I get home every night and not worry about the amp draining the battery due to no remote wire being connected.
Am I off base here? Looking for the easiest way to configure this, and I'm not sure what I just said would effectively work.
help? thanks
