Car stereo help?

The stereo in my car will turn on and off automatically by itself. Sometimes it's when I hit bumps, sometimes it's not. Sometimes it'll turn right back on, sometimes it will take 20+ minutes. Hitting a button on the stereo(any button) will usually make it come on faster, but not right away. It's ANNOYING and I want to fix it!

Has anyone ever seen or heard of anything like this? Is it just time to replace the stereo?

Thanks!

If you stop hitting the power button it'll stop doing that!!!

Do you have any way of removing it? Modern car stereo systems can be a pain to remove without disabling them or screwing them up somehow. If you can disect it then you can probably look for any obvious problems

haha, so that's what the power button does! j/k

Yeah, I had it installed by the place I bought it at(which is now over 3 hours from where I live), maybe I'll try to take it out... but to be honest, I've never done it before. I guess it shoudln't be too hard to get it out.

Sounds just like a loose power or ground connection. Shouldnt take a car strereo shop more than a few minutes to figure out the problem.

Is that something I could check easily?

Did you install the stereo yourself, or have you ever done it. If not, then I wouldn't really recommend it since you won't really know what you're looking for.

Plus it might void the warranty from the place that installed it. It sounds like a short somewhere in the wiring.
