Car stalls when AC is on

I have a '96 Nissan Sentra GXE. Whenever I turn on the AC the engine RPM drops too and the car starts shaking and eventually stalls. If I press on the gas slightly to raise the RPM, its all fine until I release and the RPM drops too low again. I know there's a way to raise the default RPM in idle but does anyone have any idea why it suddenly started happening because it did not happen before.

[EDIT] Kind of late but I got around to cleaning it and it work as expected now. Thanks for the help.

I would agree with alpineranger, start by looking at your air bypasses in your throttle body, as well as the IAC. Carbon may have built up enough around them to the point that the IAC cant open up enough thus stalling your engine out.

Yeah, at this point your throttle body is probably pretty full of carbon. Get service manual to figure out what line is what and start checking.
