I just picked up a 2000 Boxster for very very cheap with a couple minor issues. This model though well equipped did not have the optional trip computer installed. While rudimentary it was useful. I have heard that if you clear a certain code you can get some of that on board trip computer to at least display outside temp on all but a few first year models. In order to turn on that feature I need one of those tools or any basic OBD tool via rs232. The Durametrics are know to work though somewhat expensive.
Anyone know of anything like that that supports bluetooth or wireless of some sort to a laptop? I am toying around with the idea of mounting a small sony umpc with a small ssd in it that I bought a couple of years ago. Its a core solo so it should be fast enough for that. I would use the laptop of course to capture telemetry and to clear an air bag code that popped after I took the seat out when I got it home and of course the out side temp sensor as well..
I was soo happy to find a clean model with 46K miles from a friend who had it its whole life. Its been babied and dealer maintained-the horror- its whole life. The Guy just this year put fresh P-zeros on it too !!!!!! While I would have preferred a S model this will do since it was on the cheap!!
So that's been 2 cars this week for my wife and I while I was taking a staycation. I originally intended to get a G35 for myself and ended up getting one for my wife. How could she say no after getting her a new car this week right?
Funny thing is I was so drawn to the car when I saw it my wife said I looked like the guy from the movie Christine......
Well the book actually..
