I'm looking at some new speakers for my car (infinity reference 652i). In crutchfield's it says the depth is 1 7/8. The speakers are 2 1/16 deep. Is it likely that I'm going to be able to get these to work? I'd like to use these because i've been impressed with infinity's sound in the past and they fit perfectly into what i wanted to spend($100/pair = ttl of $200)

TIA,

unless someone has that specific car, it would be hard to tell you what fits.

I think you're best idea is to rip the existing ones out and measure them...most likely, the biggest factor in a car door speaker mount is the speaker hitting the window when it rolls down

Wait i don't get it... what's 1 7/8 deep? The depth in your door for the speakers?... if they are then that sucker probably won't fit at all if its around 2 inches... are you sure those speakers were meant for the front?

amnesiac: the car takes 4 of the same size speakers

sohcrates: that's prolly right. I have the door apart right now(for other reasons) and it appears that the limiting factor is the window

boyracer: i assume that's the mounting depth. That would be the logical spec for them to be giving

Why not get purpose built 6.5inch woofers acting as subs, get those infinities, and amp/cross them.
That would give you an AWESOME soundstage; not many ppl have the ability to run 2 pairs of 6.5inchers in their doors!!!

The speakers go in the front doors and the back side panels. There is plenty of room in the back, but not in the front. I didn't mean to say i could put all four in just the two doors, that would cover the entire car.

and to answer your quesiotn

is the speakers dont' fit you can get a spacer, and if that doesn't work you might have to do some metal cutting

where in the back side panels?
if it's in the rear doors, youd be better off not even putting speakers there, soundstage wise.

either way in the rear, cross them from 3khz down at least. A simple $5 coil inline with the speaker will easily do this.
Also, since they are the rears, get crappier rears, and spend more on the fronts, that would give you better overall sound.

neuro has the backspace solutions dead on :)
