Hello,

I have a 2012 Buick Regal... it happens once in a while but here's what I see happening.

I turn on car and go to a walgreens or 7-11.
Once I return to the car, I will turn it on and go reverse
Car shuts off
I turn on car and it's fine.

I've experienced this going forward too... I went to a carwash and washed the car, put it in drive and it died. After turning it on again, everything is fine...

I plan on going to a mechanic but it sucks... car only has 45000 miles and is 2012. It's the 2.4 liter engine, not the turbo.

Although the air filter didn't look that dirty, I never replaced it and have driven over 20,000 on it so it might be worth cleaning... any other thoughts? There's no lights... sigh.

There may be codes stored. Not all codes trigger the light to come on.

A code reader that reads live data may spot the problem if you can get it to happen with the reader connected.

You have a 4 year, 50,000 mile warranty on that car. Take it to the dealer very soon. You're bumping up against the 4 year limitation right this second.

Your powertrain warranty is 5 years, 100,000 miles. This almost sounds like the torque converter is locked which may fall under powertrain. Does it die the instant you put it in gear or when you apply throttle?

I'm guessing electrical issue. First thing to check is to remove and re-attach the battery connections. I know it seems silly, but they can work themselves a tiny bit loose and cause the car to shut off momentarily.

Don't forget to clean them.

Ran the diagnostics and it looks like it was a bad camshaft sensor so I replaced it. Will check to see if that resolves it. Thanks guys!

It died when I put it in drive it seemed.
