considering this Saab 9-2x aero

from what i hear it's a subaru wrx wagon with different badges... is the fact that it's a saab gonna affect it's resale? also what do you think of the price?

There are some huge incentives going on the 9-2. Probably because its selling like crap. Probably because, as you said, its a rebadged Subaru. That said, if its your thing, I wouldn't say its a terrible car. The interior parts will feel plasticky and all, but its a decent ride. Personally I'd spend a bit more for the 9-3 if you want a Saab though.

that's the thing, i would rather have a subaru, but this can be had for less money...and you can get xenon headlights for 1500 if you want (that would be neat!)

True...old school saabs. (like Jerry Seinfeld's) were good quality. It's hard to tell what they're making now. Obviously, if Suburu is making them, they may be of some quality...but I'm sure they cut corners.

this was encouraging...

I got a Black 92x aero with premium and sport packages for $23,500, which included leather, sunroof, xenon lights, and 17" enkei rims. If you are a GM employee the deal gets even sweeter. If you delete those ~4000 packages you can get the car for well under 20k. Factor in the 2 years of scheduled service, free loaner cars, and the extra year and 12,000 miles of warrentee and you can see how this is a hot deal if you were in the market for a WRX.

GM took over 50% long before that, so there was still some GM influence. Definately more Saabish though. The new ones I'm sure are better, but they are not SAAB's IMO.

i don't give a flying crap about the car being a saab or not, in fact i'd prefer that it's mostly not a saab, since their reliability is crap.

They were ahead of their time about 25-30 years ago though.

a subaru wrx with deep gm discounts and probably a slightly nicer interior. if the car loses 50% off retail in the first 2 years, does it really matter to much since you only paid 75% of retail? plus you get the included maintenance. i'd say its a frickin' hot deal. and if people realize its a sub-dub on the used market, it might push it up to wrx resale values. you'd be able to sell it in two years for more than you bought it in the first place. how is that for hot?

edit: to summarize, if you're in the market for a wrx wagon you'd be an idiot not to get this instead

the aero has the open block 2.0lT. The 9-2x has the 2.5l NA open block.

An STI swap into the 9-2x manual tranny is easyyy.. :)

I wouldn't worry too much about the resale... it won't be very high after a few years anywho.

My friend and his brother both have WRX wagons, they're just fine by me. You might even be able to find the WRXs cheaper... drive them both for sure.
