The person who owns the car is telling me to go buy the parts from the dealership.

The parts are:

Belts
Hoses
Spark Plug Wires
Spark Plugs

I suggested you can get them for cheaper probably at PepBoys. They said the dealership ones are better.

.....

Why confused?

Very frequently I've found that dealership parts ARE better. The only exception on the list above would be spark plugs. And maybe the belts... but I wouldn't even count on that. Auto parts stores will sell you the cheapest crap they can get away with - the dealership is their own parts supplier and they know they'll have to warranty anything they touch for a year (typically) and don't want to pay the labor twice for a cheap part gone bad.

look on the internet. there is a lot of good parts websites. those things are nothing major. the only thing you should even consider getting at the dealer is the spark plug wires. everything else would waste so much of your money. pep boys all the way.

Check the prices at the dealer. The last time I did plugs the dealer cost was 1/2 of the parts store (platinum plugs).

Use factory wires. You can usually get 100K out of them.

Belts/hoses: The factory stuff usually fits better, and the cost difference is usually nickels and dimes.

Why even deal w/Pep Boys? At least go to a decent parts store.

Once I went to the dealer to get spark plugs for my truck (F-150 with V8) and they flat out told me to go across the street to AutoZone and get them there. They even stocked the Motorcraft ones and were half the price of the dealer.

I would buy the parts from the dealer personally. They usually aren't that much more expensive...Edit-you racist bastard! ;)
