40 degree incline? where?

instates are limits to 6% grades, 7% in the mountains, most local areas limit roads to max 15%. even in san fran the steepest road is ~32% which is ~18 degrees.

Isn't there that ridiculously steep, winding road in San Francisco? Pretty sure I've seen it in a few shows like Mythbusters.

Also, the incline that I'm referring to that's on the way into work isn't on an interstate, and I may be overstating its grade. However, the point is that the van had to overcompensate for the speed drop, which I assume actually has more to do with the vehicle's weight.
