In my car I have to be going 70mph in 4th gear for the radio to turn on. I know it makes no sense, but it must be 4th gear, and it must be 70-80mph (and full throttle helps). Any ideas what's up?

BTW, the radio will continue to work once you drop below these speeds (or shift up to 5th), but once you shut the car off you will need to hit 70mph again for it turn back on.

When it's not on you get a 'buzz' that matches the engine RPM (it's kinda cool to rev your radio :)).

check your radio suppression wires/component off your distributor.
OR, did your spark plugs just get changed? Most newer cars need resistor plugs.

I used to drive a car that would change radio stations whenever I would brake. Never had to drive over 70mph to get it to work though...

My friend's old Maxima radio also does the same thing that matches the raving of the engine. But he doesnt need 70 mph to turn that on. Dont know what happen, but just let you know you are not alone.

First of all, hook up the radio to the same circuit that the factory radio was plugged in to. There should be a capacitor already on that circuit to kill the noise. If you have to, invest $4.00 in a Noise Eliminator Kit. There are heavy duty units available too.

I think your 70MPH stuff is due to a poor connection somewhere. Check over the wiring closely when you install the filter.

Ornery is right, most likely it is that. It has happen to me a couple different times. Go get a ground loop isolator, and put it in between the amp and the radio.

<< LOL!! >>

That's the general consensus regaurding my car.

I tried checking the wiring harness for it, but can't figure out how to get the stupid dash open.

BTW, I don't know that the ground insulator idea will help much considering that the humm goes away completly once it turn on.
