Please don't make fun of me... i'm not as stupid as this may sound but...

Does a cars odometer go in reverse when you back up.I'm not planning anytrhing illegal, i'm just curious. I'm inclined to think that they might because i have seen a speedometer that will spin in reversewhen you back up (on an old jeep cherokee. It fair to note that jeep gauges are notoriously sh!tty, but this could be important evidence, also why else would most speedometers have pins that keep them from going backwards??) any help is appreciated.

They dont work in reverse. If they did, it would be to easy to roll-back the miles.

Many years back when they were mostly mechanical some did go backwards. Today I don't think any do. Most use a electronic sensor of one kind or the other.

Majestic, they peel the cover off and roll it back by hand. Takes art and skill to make it look like it was never opened. Much like Compaq's and that stupid sticker on the tower to keep you from adding anything.

It is not that easy, or else you would be breaking the law everytime you back up. ;)
