Car question: Help me with shocks

Its time to replace the shocks on my 97 Toyota Landcruiser. Since me job requires alot of off road driving, I feel that I should get some good ones. I have been looking at Rancho, but feel that i need to compare! What are some other brands of shocks that I should check outl?

Bilstein ONLY way to go... only thing out of Germany I would ever put on my vehicle, but man they are worth the dough. Last forever and have a far better ride, especially for us bigger vehicles. Don't bother with the Rancho/Edelbrock mumbo-jumbo, I tried em, they are cheap and you get what ya pay for 😉

When I bought my Dodge Dakota 4x4, it had Gabriel heavy duty truck shocks on it.

Unfortunately, the shocks were still quite good, even though they looked like they were 10 years old. I replaced them with Monroe shocks from Advance Auto parts.... I can't tell much difference, but I don't take this off road much.

Check out Edelbrock shocks using IAS technology. They are highly prefered by Jeep owners for their off road & on road performance. (I have a jeep GC)

Unlike most aftermarket shocks they are oil filled not gas. Been talking to my mechanic who says most customers who have gas shocks put in tend to complain about the ride - but then they are meant for performance street performance.

You could also check out some offroading forums to search & see what they are saying. Here's a couple:
