My coolant reserve tank keeps getting empty every month and I hear a water like noise coming from my air vents whenever I rev my engine. Anyone know the what could be the problem? 96 Eclipse RS automatic.

..most likely. Check the carpet under your seats and see if coolant is pooling.

I would think you'd pick up on the smell of anti-freeze, if there is a cracked heater core.

If there is a sweet smell like coolant inside, you may have a leak. Could be worse, like a blown intake gasket or blown head gasket. If you notice much more steam coming out of the exhaust than usual, it could be an intake gasket. If you oil level is too high - or looks milky, you may have coolant in the oil, which is possibly a head gasket.

Sometimes seals on the waterpump will only leak coolant while the car is running.

Pinholes near the top of the radiator can also throw coolant when running then the level is too low to leak when the engine is off.

A leak in the overflow bottle is possible.
