car problem - ideas? driver side window rolls down but not up

so all of a sudden my driver side car window doesn't roll up (power windows).

every other window works and no electrical problems so far

its a 2001 impala

I rolled it half way down and then later tried to roll it back up. It didnt roll up. Then i tried rolling it down more and it did roll down.

Not sure what it is since im not auto-savvy. BUT, perhaps this is peculiar, when i push the "down" button for the drivers side, i hear and feel a click sound/feel. Like its overcoming some kind of clip thing and then rolls down. So it works. The up and down button for every other window also does this and these windows also work.

WHen I push "up" on the button, I don't hear or feel anything; it seems like its just being pushed down but not making contact with anything


ideas?

I'll have to take it to a chevy dealer tomorrow morning unless someone has any wise ideas (crosses fingers).

Its not under warranty anymore so it will cost something 🙁

It sounds like the switch itself to me. No way to diagnose it any better from here.

yea i kinda think and hope its just the switch... oh well i guess i have to wait until the morning to know for sure

if its anything like a ford power window moter theres 3 wooden blugs in the motor used as bearings/shockabsorbers. HELP! makes a nylon replacement kit. it required more torque to put the window up than down and its slipping when you try and put it up.
