Car problem: 1994 Camero Z28 accelerates by itself

Umm yea...interesting problem. Car stopped at light. Car suddenly takes off, foot on brake, tires spinning... put car into neutral, redlines. Does it everytime now. Had friend push me home.

Whats wrong? A local shop gave up.

my wifes car

1999 pontiac firebird

took off on her on freeway an she couldnt stop, had to thrown car into neutral,
turned out her cruise control was broken and she had to have the shop fix it.

Hmm, maybe, fine after a "reboot" until I give the gas a little rev. Then after that....it goes wherever it wants to....

Interesting...but cruise control off... hmm, time to go experiment, hope I come back alive and not around a telephone post..

Some type of electrical problem. Go to AutoZone and get a diagnostic test (free) and see what the problem is.

Or test it on your own if you have a multi-meter and some wire.

But certainly don't drive it if it is unsafe.

Does the engine appear to idle normally when the car is in park or neutral?
