Glad I don't live in Europe!

That car will never see the light of day on American roads.

BTW, I read what it's about already. I firmly believe it's a hoax.

People are bad enough drivers on pavement. This will severely magnify things.

Good Grief!

That thing is uglier than the Honda Element!

(did they cross-breed an Element with a Pontiac Aztek or something??)

Compressed air engines are full of air. The hinged connecting rod looks interesting though.

Ugly yes.......... but if you don't have to pay for gas :)

I see it more as a city commuter car rather then a long distance car :D

Those numbers don't seem to really add up. a penny per kilometer? I don't believe it. Looking at the page with the different car versions it just seems like a big joke to me, like that video card that never has and never will exist.

Well, you know, the fact that it has to be plugged in sucks. The process of creating the energy to supply it is polluting, so I guess this vehicle isn't really pollution free.

Well.......... if they have it in BC where I live......... the "air stations" will be powered by electricity and 90% of our electricity is hydro :D So it's cleaner then if we burned coal :D

Yea, they had some kinda discovery channel thingie on that a year or so back. It is real, and they showed it taking off and stuff on there.

The biggest problem with this is that they are planning to have it all automated. You put in the destination and it will do the routing and flight plan all by itself. That's great and all, but it comes down to infrastructure. Where will you park them? how will you interface with road-based traffic? What kind of system (centralized? distributed?) are you going to have to communicate with all of the cars to prevent midair collisions? Are they classified as road-going vehicles or airplanes? do you need a seperate license? what are the insurance policies?

There are so many questions to be answered and there is nobody to answer them (at least definitavely). Maybe these things have changed since I last looked into it, but i doubt it.

OK. It runs on compressed air, I can handle that.

So, what is running the "engine" that compresses the air? Or did I miss that?

The connecting rod style is interesting.

It looks like it would produce a lot of sideways forces on the piston though, I bet an engine with this system wouldn't be able to rev very high.
