I wouldn't rent a car either aside from specialty equipment like trucks. I can walk free, use a bike, or buy a used car/motorcycle/scooter. Pay cash, and gtfo

Speaking of math and cars - it took me like 7 years to come out ahead in buying & keeping my car outright vs. leasing.

The interesting thing is people usually switch cars after 7 years of ownership. No point in buying in that case.

This is why I lease. I like to change it up every year if I could (typically). This last time though I opted for a 3yr lease because I had the vehicle built with only exactly what I wanted... I don't think I'll want to turn it in next May, but I'm sure it's still in my better interest to lease another, because I'll find a reason to change vehicles sooner or later.
