Car Paint Problem

My brother left a towel on my car, but I didn't know it becuase I don't drive yet, so I rarely go out to look at the car. It sat there about two weeks, through many rainy nights, soaking the towel. Apparently a wet towel sitting on paint ruins it. There are all bubbles on the paint where the towel was sitting and it looks sort of faded. The car won't be on the road until October so I really have no way to get any sort of estimate on how much it's going to cost to get fixed (and he's paying for it) until then.

Question is, is there anyone who does automotive paint here? Would you be able to give me a rough estimate how much this is going to cost to fix? The spot probably takes up about 1.5 sq feet on the trunk. It's a 96 Mitsubishi Mirage S Coupe, silver in color.

I'm no expert but I would think the entire trunk panel would have to be sanded down, primered, and painted. Few hundred dollars.

The car sucks anyway, just leave it. 😛 The whole trunk will have to be resurfaced and painted. A decent job will run probably $200 for the trunk.

LOL, I don't know man. It's the standard paint Mitsubishi used in 1996. The car has a really nice finish, though. I'd assume something like that sitting on any paint for an extended period of time would do the same sort of damage.

Thanks for your opinion, but I like the car just fine. It's fine for a starter car. I'm not going to just "leave it". I don't want my car looking like a POS. My brother did it, he's paying for it, else's he's going to have some hell to pay.

200 aint bad. it would probably be easiest to remove the trunk, tape up the underside and take it to a paint shop, then they can sand and what not it, you do most of the prep means its cheaper to get done.
