Car makes sparking sound when I turn the key in the ignition

Hello,

when I turn the key in the ignition, sometimes I hear what sounds like sparks/electricity crackling. Anyone have any ideas if/what the problem may be?

I have 2001 honda civic lx

I don't know jack about Honda's but it sounds like the ignition switch which BTW, is not the thing you put your key in. This is potentially quite dangerous. There is a tremendous amount of current flowing through that switch which has been the source of fires across a number of car manufacturers and car lines through the years.

Get it fixed ASAP would be my advice.
