How much do you people spend a year to keep your car on the road?

I've been going over my numbers and so far this year i've spend over 900 bucks to keep my 95 nissan driveable(This is require repairs like new tires, belts and cv joints. This does not include my new stereo)

I have two older vehicles that have eaten up about $500 a piece this year and two newer ones that have only gotten oil changes (maybe $50 per).

~$150 for oil changes on my car, probably the same for my wifes. now if you are counting gas as well....

$150? Assuming about $20 each, you get yours changed 7 times a year?

I drive about 30K/year and change every 5K miles with fully synthetic oil and a new filter at every change. If I'm feeling generous I'll change it at 4K

Maintenance on my car, 2005 G35 MT6
at 4K miles, $35 for oil change and other stuff (washed, lubed, etc)
at 8K miles, $167 for oil change, tire balancing (cannot rotate), lubed, washed, air filter, etc.
at 12K, $37 for the oil change and other stuff
rumored 16KK is $377 - HOWEVER I am not going to allow them to do it. My dealer told me what THEY are doing at 16K and most of it is not in the book. Things like cleaning the intakes and such. Sorry, but if my Miata could make 60K without silly dealer padding maintenance then a 38K car damn well can too. So I figure they will be annoyed when I tell them to not deviate from Inifiniti's information as provided to me in my operations manual.

Maintenance on my bike, 2003 K1200RS (alpine white / orient blue - its the fastest of the 4 colors available)

600 miles, $154 which includes replacing the "break-in" oil, filter, fasterners, and changing out rear end fluid (also break in apparently).
6000 miles, $300 or so. Includes oil change, filters, and such. Adjust valves and more.


What I like about BMW service on the bike is that I can see everything they are required to do by BMW and how long they are allowed to do it in. The Inifiniti dealer won't show me the same. Which reminds me, after buying my first Infiniti I know its my last. Their quality just isn't as good as Lexus or BMW.

It depends how old your car is. If it's older, it's going to need replacement parts. I have a 97 Camry and I had to replace my power window regulator ($60), tire ($60), and soon to be inside door handle. I do my own oil changes for about $7 each time.

I bought a 2001 Z24 in Feb. So far the only money ive put in it is oil changes. But ive put a cold air intake in. And i need tires.

Almost nothing. I do all my own work so I save TONS of money if there is a problem. Oil changes on my Lexus are still free from the dealership (lifetime deal) and I have not had any maintenance needed on it in the last year. The GF's vehicle lost an automatic transmission earlier this year but I pulled it and rebuilt it and now the car is perfect....cost me about $200, when taking it in to have it done would have been ~$2500. These days having automotive mechanic skills is like making thousands extra a year, too bad most of you kiddies didn't have fathers to get you interested in auto mechanics when you were little or you could really stretch those dollars. I thank my lucky stars every time I have a problem with a vehicle because I know it isn't going to cost me much of anything except a Saturday or weekend worth of work...which I enjoy so it is still actually fun.

tires, belts, and cv joints shouldn't have to be anual costs.

I'm at 400 this year, thanks to a new knock sensor and spark plugs. (nice platinum ones cost too much)
