car leaking coolant

Yesterday was driving down highway, car started jerking I tried pushing gas but wasn't getting any rpms were going up. Soon as I went off the road I heard a pop pass the car started shooting out fluid on driver side near window. We changed thermostat still didn't work and the car us leaking under passenger side. We changed oil and their was nothing wrong with the oil but I don't wanna rule out gasket just yet. No white smoke coming out of exhaust the overflow tank is what spit the water out plus it gets really hot it will run for about Te minutes the start overheating and then soon as you park or idle it, it will leak. Please help its ab2000 Chrysler 300m with Sebring engine what could be the problem? Also will a dealer trade me for that car

Those were some really shitty years for Dodge, they were famous for blowing head gaskets, often before 60K miles. It needs to be brought to a shop for proper testing to determine where the coolant is going, yes, you can trade it in but a 2000 Chrysler with a probably blown head gasket will not garner much trade-in value, expect $2-300, because that's what the dealer will get when he flat-beds's it to the junkyard.

Top off the radiator with water. Then get someone to rev the engine slightly while you watch for leaks. The water pump should increase the pressure within the coolant system and then you can try to isolate where the leak is occurring. Check all the hoses and look for any of those fittings to be leaking. It's not uncommon for the water pump's gasket on these to leak, especially considering it's got fewer bolts holding it together and higher psi. If you can't isolate the leak, take it to a mechanic and have them pressure test the system to find the leak. Then get an estimate and decide if you want to tackle the job. Fixing this issue with better than factory gasket sealant will likely eliminate at least that failure point.
