This is so weird, my car keyless door entry doesn?t work that good at school.

I have to come within inches of the car to make it work.

Do you think the School Wireless Network could be killing it?

is your keyless door entry operating at the same frequency as your school's wireless network?

It works fine everywhere else?

I'd suggest trying a new battery in it (if it has one).

no idea if it's the wifi or not.
However, try this - put the key fob up against a metal pole or an car antenna (or heck, just up against a car) and try it.
I've done my own experiments (after wondering why the chin trick works) and found i could get more distance by doing that.

I don't know, its the basic Nissan keyless door entry...

All i know is that i park my car in the main parking lot and it doesnt work, i leave school and it works great from about 100 feet or more.

I've always heard that if you stick the remote up to your temple while hitting the button, it will enhance the signal or something. Urban legend, maybe? Try it and report back.

Yeah, my Nissan remote sucks too in crowded parking lots. If I don't have a clear path to the car, it won't work unless I put the thing up to my chin so my body acts like a human antenna.

Another cool trick to try is give your key remote to someone (or find someone who has your spare) and call them on your cell phone. Have them press the button with it close to their phone and have your phone near your car. The doors should unlock. . . .

^ supposed to be the chin... that trick worked once for me... it's so sporadic with these things... usually just low on battery.

I have to do the chin trick to unlock my trunk. Parabolic shape of the jawbone works wonders for a directional antenna

It's the same thing as boosting the reception of a radio by grabbing the FM antenna. Your body provides a great surface area to collect the waves. I guess it works in reverse too, your body can emit them pretty well.

Same concept as placing it against something large and metal. I'm sure there are plenty of factors in certain environments that can decrease the effective distance of a keyless remote.

I have a Nissan remote too, works fine, even in crowded lots, but there are some places it won't work until I'm right at the car.

yep..
at a local store by my house if you park on the side of the building the Nissan Altima that we have won't work, but my Nissan Sentra will...

Also at home i have tried pressing both the Nissan Car keys at the same time and none of them work, one is for the Sentra and one is for the Altima and they are both different styles. It's like the signal interfear with each other.

Hmmm..interesting stuff here. I know my TV remote doesn't work for the upstairs TV because the reciever is downstairs (atleast thats why I think it does'nt work)..But it works fine if I point the remote into my mouth...

Most Keyless entry remotes transmit at 300-500Mhz so a Wi-Fi network would not interfere with it.
