For some reason car insurance agencys want your social security number for car insurance quotes. My question is, are they doing hard credit checks that remove 5 points off your credit score?

What insurance companies offer the cheapest rates, but give you your moneys worth?

My Insurance agent explained to me he needed that info because i was setting up to directly draw funds out of my checking account and that was S.O.P. according to the new homeland security laws.

check your states dept of ins website. they may have sample premiums listed.
I know they do in my state.

a lot of times they do credit checks. But those checks only lower your score temporarily, it will go back up after a few months
