I am 17 years old. I drive this

and the insurance costs are horrible.

Everyone knows that insuring a driver who is under 18 costs a fortune, even if they have a spotless record. I don't want to sound like a prick.. but for my age I am an excellent driver, what worries me is someone else screwing up and hitting me.

Will my insurance rates be affected if I do nothing wrong and someone smashes in to me?

Possibly, yes.

The thing about teenager males is, they all think they're excellent drivers for their age, but very few of them realize that the most imortant part of being an excellent (safe) driver is awareness of your surroundings.

I am sorry, but 1 year of "spotless" record is NOTHING in the eyes of insurance company.

It doesn't help either when you are trying to insure a luxury car.

It's more of your age than your car at this point. The BMW is a well engineered vehicle, and a lot safer than the avg, with exception with maybe the Z series.
