Okay so my current policy is almost up and I am planning to switch carriers. I currently use allstate, and its more then I think I should be paying. My fiancee is actually the policy holder, with me being the secon driver on it. I have full coverage on one car and liability only on another, we are paying almost 850.00 every 6, and from my limited research other places seem to be cheaper.

Anyways more to the point of my question, what is the best way to go about getting a policy? Here is some relevant info.

I am 23, she is 25, I have had no accident or tickets or anything in the last 5 years, she has had both an accident and a speeding ticket in the last 5 years. But obviously she is also female and 25. I know she gets cheaper rates for being 25+ and for being female(I don't understand that last one though)but she is also gonna have higher rates due to here ticket and accident.

SO does it matter which one of us is the policy holder, with the other being a second driver on it? Also does it matter which one of us is listed as primary driver on which car? I would think that if she didn't have the accident and ticket, that it would be wise to keep the new policy in her name and put her as the primary driver of the full coverage car, but I am wondering if the ticket and accident actually take more away from her then she gets for being female and 25. According to my current policy, she pays less then me, so I think it would still be better to keep her as primary holder and as the driver of the full coverage car, just wondering what you all think.

I know I could figure this out by doing online quotes, but those things can take forever.

Cliffs Notes:
How should I setup my next insurance policy, who should own the policy and who should drive what car.
One car has full coverage other car is liability only.
She is 25 and female, with one accident and one speeding ticket in the last 5 years.
I am 23 and male with no accidents or tickets in the last 5 years.

So again does it matter whos name the policy is in and who drives what car?

Yeah some companies don't hold your first accident against you. I am actually looking into Geico right now.

atiyeh, I will if I have to, but would prefer not to find this stuff out by doing online quotes, since I owuld have to do like 4. I would need to do one each with me or her as the policy holder, then once I figure that out, I would still have to do 2 more to figure out if it was cheaper for her or me to be on the full coverage car.

I think your best bet is going to be to leave it in her name. I you're only 23, you won't your price reduction until you turn 25. I don't know where you live, but that sounds about right. Sometimes it not always about the price, but how you're taken care of when you have an accident. That's worth all the money in the world. Good luck searching.
