Car insurance question - discount for drivers' ed class? How much?

We're in NJ. My son is 16. He didn't take the classroom part of driver's ed in school. In order to take it, he needs to go to a special summer school class that's going to cost about $350, plus transportation, and the cost of not being able to work his part-time job while he's in the class.

The only reason he needs the class is to save money on his car insurance for a couple of years.

Will he save enough money on car insurance to make the class a worthwhile investment?

p.s. of course I'm in favor of driver's education, but this is a money question

There are too many factors for us to determine the outcome for you. Instead, why not just call your insurance company and ask? 3 minutes later you'd have your definitive answer.

For me, the discount basically offset the driver's ed cost. Financially it was a wash. But that was 13 years ago in a different state.

I did call the insurance co. and I'm waiting for a call back. Figured I'd see what the wisdom of ATOT had to say. So far you're a lot faster than the insurance co.
