Car Insurance Boo Boo

I forgot to pay my car insurance until today, 2/6. The payment was due on 2/4, and I just saw the reminder email in my inbox, damn. I quick went and paid it online in full with my credit card. I have heard there are some stiff penalties involved when you let your insurance lapse. Anybody ever have this happen? Wondering if they're going to fine me. Usually progressive sends the bill 2 months in advance and follows up with 1 or 2 more invoices before it comes due. This time I just got the one and hadn't bothered to open it thinking it wasn't due till the end of February. It is my own fault, I know. Just hoping being 2 days late on the payment won't drive my rates up next term.

jeeze.... its only 2 days late. as far as i know, all insurance co.'s have a grace period after the payment is due.
(that is a very general statement)
if you actually let your policy lapse (your payment was over 30 days late) it could raise your rates, but cancelled and terminated policies are not the same thing

I used Progressive for 3 years... paid late most of the time... it doesn't do anything. As long as you are within the grace period (usually 30 days), it won't affect anything...

They probably won't care, but I wouldn't consistently pay late. Just for the purposes of showing your ability to pay bills on time if you ever need to.
