So I come back from class today and I notice my car alarm has gone off. I walk around and there is a hole/crack in my bumper. Bastards! S/he just hit and ran. Last time I claimed something with insurance they screwed me over on the premium.

I was wondering if there is an alternative - I don't want to go through insurance, but if I go to a shop I know they will over charge me for a plastic bumper probably aroudn $1000.

Anyone know where I can get acura body parts for cheap and painted/installed? I live in the Seattle, WA area.

Thanks for your help...

P.S. - Let me take this opportunity to rant about insurance companies. How do they get off charging sooo much money, (over 2400 per year for me) and then when you need them most they pay it, and then make it back in a year...bastards!

GRRRRRRRRRRR, FVCKERS who do that need a good beating.

novon Its cause if you total that acura of yours the insurance company is going to have to dish out $10-20k :)

Try JJ Bumpers. Friends of mine have had good luck with em. You may have to do some cleanup work to the bumper and/or paint it, but cost shouldn't be too bad.

Hit up the junkyards. Even if they don't have a bumper for whatever car you have, most have parts locators that can probably find one for you.

Two more online junkyards.
CoPartFinder
Cars of MD (not just for Maryland)

There are specific Honda/Acura junk yards, I've seen writeups on em in Sport Compact Car. Unfortunately, I've lost the issue that the article was in. Maybe try some Acura enthusiast sites.

BEST PLACE TO GO.

Go to ThePartsTrader.com

Then click Honda/Acura, then Stock Parts. You will find tons of bumpers there, you can probably find one for about $100-$150 and if you're lucky it will be painted your color.
