I couldn't get my front end hood to close all the way. It closes, but it does not shut on the final locking latch. As a result, when i drive on the highway, the hood kind of bobbles up and down like it is giving head. It doesn't open because it hits the manual release latch (keep in mind, these are not the official names of each part;)). I did not think my car will pass inspection, so I have been slaving over getting parts for my car in order to beat teh Jan. 1 dead line for my inspection. Well, obvioulsy, I failed to meet this deadline.... I am think I am gonna fail this test , but yesterday, I noticed a civic parked infront of me with a huge dent on teh driver side, 2 windows broken in, and no driver side mirror. Low and behold, its sticker runs out next year in 2006. I am thinking that thos person paid some guy to get the sticker....I don't want to go that route, so do you think my car will pass inspection on its own?

I live in MA, BTW

Why don't you check to see why it doesn't latch, and bend the latch with a big pair of pliers so that it works?

That's what I did on my Celica...

You can get an inspection sticker with your windows broken and a dent on the car. And even with one broken mirror I believe.
Go to a junkyard and see if you can find the part you need for your car.

Well I can't give you information specific to the state of Alberta in the United States, which is where your profile indicates you live. I can tell you that if you lived in New Jersey, you could take your car to get it inspected, and if they fail it you get a certain amount of time to fix it and get it reinspected. That would buy you some time. But then if you lived in New Jersey, you'd realize the guy with the Civic got his car inspected in 2004 at the latest, so you probably don't live in New Jersey.

Uhhh, I drove for about 2 weeks with a hood like that... at 70mph, I hit a small bump.
Now, if life could be referred to as frames per second, and it's running at 100 frames per second...
Frame 1, all is fine.
frame 2, windshield is shattered, vision is 95% obscured, and I about sh!t my pants.

I highly recommend getting it fixed.
It's about a $50 repair if you have someone else do it (or if you're mechanically inclined, much cheaper)
If it pops up at a high speed, you're going to need a new windshield, new hood, and STILL need to get that part repaired.

I spent all day yesterday doing this...couldn't get it to latch. It wouldn't shut all at at first, but i managed to bend the first latch, it now locks. It's the last latch that is the porblem.

I went to a mechanic just to get the latch fixed...he said $400.00.....I then said, no, I want it fixed, not replaced....he said, oh, in that case....$350.00...

Man, mechnics must make a good bundle of cash.

ahh the damn inspection laws... our 90 accord had a check engine light on because of a non-working speedometer and also a cracked axle. The thing drove like the day we bought it though... had to give it up because we didn't want to put more money into the daily driver (especially since we have another car hardly used)... and because it wouldn't make it past inspection if we tried. I bet it would've made a trip 3000 miles to California though.. where no inspection is necessary. :|
