We're putting a new fuel pump in the car and can't get the fuel pump to pump. Does it have a reset switch or anything? I got it from a salvage yard so it's not brand new (they want $325 for a brand new one).

My dad and a friend are working on it now and are stumped.

Help!!!!!!

It may have a float activated switch so it doesn't run with an empty gas tank..is this pump inside the gas tank? If it is, those also have the sending unit for the gas guage in them as well. May also have a gas pres.sensor to kill the pump in the event of a broken fuel line. You may have to find a service manual for your grand am...goodluck.

Guess I need the relay switch for the fuel pump.

We know the fuel pump works, we just need to find the switch....

Does your car have a fuse / accessory box under the hood? My 1996 Dodge did - and that's where the relays were located. Good luck! :)
