My motor is almost done at the rebuilders. I asked for the cam card to take a look at it. give me your opinons please
dur @ .050 i/e 204 214
adv dur i/e 270 280
lobe spread 112
valve lift .448 .472
cam lift .280 .295
The motor is a Olds 350 .040 over w/ 9.2to1 comp., headers, intake, 200-4r w/ shiftkit, 3.42 rear.
What do you think the HP and torque of this motor might be.
Thanks, >>
I don't know a lot about the Olds motor, so I can't guess on actual hp, but it looks like a mild cam with a fairly smooth idle (a bit of a lope to it). Back when I had my '83 Mustang and worked at Super Shops (Stupid Shops! Remember them?), I had an Erson custom ground hydraulic roller cam:
544" lift intake/exhaust
302/310 advertised duration
236/242 duration @0.050
112 degree lobe center
The original motor this was built for was a 302 running 289 rods (a bit longer) and very lightweight (compared to stock Ford) TRW L2490F30 pistons (high compression flat top Chevy pistons). Ran this with '65 289 heads which were opened up a bit. This motor revved like there was no tomorrow, but I got carried away and floated the valvetrain and had a slight valve/piston impact problem
So after that experience, I ended up throwing the cam into a '85 stock bottom end with Dart Windsor 202 heads, retarded the cam 4 degrees for valve/piston clearance, and put a Victor Jr on it with a 700 Holley (double-pumper). Thing drove like it had a turbo on it... was a normal car below 3500rpm, but was unbelievable at full throttle above that (4.11 gears!) 12.8 at 109mph on street tires at Sacramento Raceway.
