Any reason a car would squeak kind of loud, but have that squeak go away when the brake is applied, or sometimes when travelling at high speeds (70/80ish)

Depending on your car it might be a brake pad wear limiter. But in either case it is most likely related to your brakes.

Jack one wheel at a time and spin the wheel if you hear a noise then you have found the problem. Inspect the brakes for worn pads/shoes or something that could be rubbing against the rotor/drum.

Good Luck and post what you find.

Sounds like a brake pad wear warning noise, but IANAM (I Am Not A Mechanic). I'd get it checked out at least.

If you only need to replace the pads, it would be <$100. For pads and rotors, around $100-$150 at a shop. <$100 if you DIY.

what does these kinds of repairs cost?
If it is worn brake pads/shoes it could run between 90-250, per axle, depending on the quality of the pads/shoes and if it needs rotors or any other additional parts.

that would be the worst case..... anything over 500 for a complete brake job is a rip off

Could also be a worn belt, which is really cheap and DIY. Like under $30 from auto zone.

Or if you go to AutoZone they will most likely diagnose the problem for free.

Also, I noticed that my right turn signal doesn't work. When I click it, it just stays a solid color inside, but doesn't blink outside.

What's that mean?

When you drop off the car you can set a pre approval a limit, how much you want them to spend before calling with an estimate. I recommend $100 to start that way if it's something simple they can fix right away.

Make sure you get a written estimate, even if they have to fax it to you.

Too bad you don't live near me, I would be happy to service you car.

If you have the time to do it, the brakes on that car are very easy. It would probably take you a couple hours if it's your first time and could cost as little as $50 for pads and rotors from AutoZone.

That could be as simple as a bad bulb or two. Check your lights next time you get to your car.

it means there's a burned bulb somewhere. on my 92 bonneville, the rear right signal socket had a habit of coming out so check it.

Sounds like the turn signal switch is poo. I believe you'll have to take the steering wheel off on that car to get to it. If you want to do it youurself, you can rent a steering weel puller from AutoZone for free. The switch should be <$30 or so I would think.

Well if you know how to change oil and swap out a tire then you're still a step ahead of most people :D

He didn't say he knew how to CHANGE oil... ;)

And the turn signal thing is definitely a bulb. A bad switch wouldn't do that. A bad flasher relay might, but I'm 99% sure it's a bulb. Your owner's manual should tell you how to change bulbs... If not, get a Hayne's guide from AutoZone.
